C. H. BARRY: A FOUNDING AITCHISONIAN
A requiem for Mr C.H. Barry, former Principal Aitchison College, Lahore.

Charles Harold Barry, the fifth Principal of Aitchison College, Lahore, passed away on 20 April 1992, at Macclesfield, UK. To generations of post-Independence Aitchisonians, the name of Mr. Barry has been associated primarily with the imposing double-storeyed red brick building known as Barry Block which today houses the Senior School. The building was completed in 1941, during Mr. Barry’s tenure as Principal. In its functional modernity – a daring departure in its day from the traditional florid style of architecture visible in the older buildings of the College – Barry Block not only commemorates a past principal but symbolises the character and contribution of one of the most dynamic heads of that remarkable institution.
