MUSLIM CHRISTIAN DIALOGUE IN U.K. AND BEYOND
Welcome address at the Interfaith Dialogue with Intellectuals, during the visit of the Most Reverend & Rt. Hon'ble Dr Rowan Williams, Archbishop of Canterbury, 25 November 2005.

It is a singular and unique honour for me to be invited by Dr Alexander Malik (Bishop of Lahore & Moderator Church of Pakistan) to introduce the Archbishop of Canterbury, His Grace the Most Revd. and Rt. Honorable Dr Rowan Williams.
Rowan Williams was born in 1950 and brought up in Swansea, where his father was a mining engineer. Unlike most of us, his academic abilities became apparent at an early age. He went from grammar school to Cambridge, and then to Oxford for his doctorate. Dr Rowan Williams was nominated as the 104th Archbishop of Canterbury in July 2002.
He is a prolific scholar and a brilliant linguist. He speaks seven languages, including Russian which he mastered within six months. As he speaks fluent Welsh as well, it should not be difficult for him to learn that other endangered language in the British Isles - The Queen's English. [EXTRACT]
